Rickie (Rick) Kent Mickelson, 67, of Jamestown, ND, entered heaven on August 22nd, 2021, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Surrounded by his loving wife and family

Rickie Kent Mickelson was born on October 1 st , 1953, to Leroy and Cathryn Mickelson in Kensal, North Dakota. As a child, Rick lived in Courtney, North Dakota, later moving to his lifelong home in Jamestown, ND. Following high school, Rick worked various odd jobs, including traveling across the country with the Murphy Brothers as a carny. In 1978, he began what would turn into his lifelong career as a heavy equipment operator, working long hours and rarely missing a day of work —Rick spent 18 years with Everettes Construction, then finishing his 43-year career with Border States Paving Inc.

In May of 1980, he met his soulmate and best friend, Valerie. They married a year later, spending the next 40 years together filled with fun and everlasting love. Rick was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Rick was a dedicated family man; first and foremost, he especially treasured his time with his grandchildren, often showering them with gifts. Rick had many hobbies; he loved riding his Harley, playing guitar, lighting up the dance floor, and fishing. Rick was a caring, generous, funny, and positive free soul who loved to strike up a conversation over a cup of coffee at the Depot. Rick will always be fondly remembered as a man whose generosity graced many, never asking for anything in return

Survived by his wife Valerie Mickelson, children Ryan L Mickelson (Brin Garletz) and Tonya (Jamie) Hager, his five beautiful grandchildren, Jamie Joel, Jazelle, Zane, Stella, and Autumn. Mother-in-Law Sandra (Danny) Johnson. Sisters Joyce Hennings, Sheila Salberg, Sherry (Alex) Musgrave, Jean (Mark) Deery, of Jamestown. Brothers, Miles Mickelson, Brant (Deza) Mickelson, Terry Mickelson, Wayne (Ronnie) Mickelson of Jamestown, and Joel Mickelson and Kirstin Clemens of Wisconsin, Jerry (Carol Ann) Clark of Montana. Sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Todd) Page, Marcy (Alan), Entzi, Michelle (Keith) Schumacher, Teresa (Ben) Kenelly, Bridgette (Chad), Altringer.Brothers-in-law, Steve (Dawn) Ruff, Brett (Amy) Ruff, John Ruff, several nieces and nephews, and his dog Bayla.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Cathryn Mickelson, and brothers, Leroy Mickelson and Kim Mickelson.

Friends and family are invited to a prayer service at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown on Sunday, August 29 th at 7:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Jamestown on Monday, August 30th, at 11:00 am. In honor of Rick, dress casually and feel free to wear your Harley gear!
